register a .nl domain

Applying to register a domain name

Any dot-NL domain name you register has to be unique. A dot-NL domain name can be registered only once and the first-come-first-served principle applies.

order now your .nl domain name

Any person or organisation can apply to register a dot-NL domain name, regardless of where they live or are based. However, if you are outside the Netherlands, you need to provide an address in the Netherlands, to which written correspondence relating to your registration may be addressed.

Check whether the name you have thought of is still available

To do this, you need to use the Who(Is) service on this website. On the homepage, you will see the option ‘Is the dot-NL domain name still available?’ Enter the .NL domain name you are interested in and click on ‘Check’. The ‘Is’ service will then tell you the status of the domain name. If the status is ‘Available’, it is available for you to register.

.nl is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the Netherlands. Registrations are processed via a network of participants. It is one of the more popular ccTLD's, ranked 4th in the quarterly VeriSign Domain Name Industry Brief of June 2008, after .de, .cn and .uk
